Cognizant: ₹2.5 Lakh Salary Misrepresented, Freshers Earn More
IT giant Cognizant has refuted recent reports suggesting a starting salary of ₹2.5 lakh per annum for software engineers. The company has clarified that this figure pertains to non-engineering undergraduate degree holders and not engineering graduates.
A recent job posting had ignited significant controversy on social media, with many criticizing the offered salary as insufficient. In response, Cognizant’s EVP and President, Surya Gummadi, emphasized that the company offers a competitive salary range of ₹4 lakh to ₹12 lakh annually for fresh engineering graduates, depending on factors like hiring category, skill set, and certifications.
Gummadi also addressed concerns about recent salary hikes, stating that they were influenced by both individual performance and broader industry conditions. He highlighted that Cognizant has consistently provided increments and bonuses to employees over the past three years, positioning the company as people-centric.
The company’s clarification aims to dispel misconceptions and reaffirm its commitment to offering competitive compensation packages to its employees.
